Monday started in the not so nice hole. I got to work and the ignition would not turn off on the car. Try as I might there just no way it was going to cooperate. I thought that I would disconnect the battery cable, but after looking at it, knew there was no way that I would be able to do it as I didn't have the tools to accomplish it. If it had been the old fashion connectors of old I could have done it. I rushed into the building to get someone to cover the front for me, then dashed out to the car before the battery died and drove to David Stanley Chevrolet at I-35 and Lindsey Street in Norman, Oklahoma.
You could not ask for a more caring bunch of people. I got my car turned in and they gave me a loaner, a zippy new Chevy Cruz. They(service window) were fast...it was my insurance company that was slow. It turned out the electronic switch behind the ignition had failed, after all the car is 12 years old. It needed new spark-plugs (since the ones were still in the car from when we bought it in 2005) and the poor thing had never had the fuel injectors cleaned. Still I was getting 18 miles to the gallon. So I splurged a bit in hopes of keeping the old girl going for a bit longer. I may use her as a toad behind the RV for a while.
As in all cases with auto shops it's the labor that is going to kill you, but it was worth it to have her purring when we left the shop this afternoon.
If you ever need your auto serviced, I highly recommend David Stanley Chevrolet at
I-35 and Lindsey Street Exit. If you're coming from the north, exit at the Lindsey/Highway 9 exit, stay to the right up to the stoplights. Turn right at the stop light, then left at the next stop light and take a left into their lot, to the big double bay doors on the right. If you're coming from the south, take the Lindsey Street exit to the stop light, turn left go to the second stop light and follow the instructions above to the double bay doors. They are fast, courteous and truly care about you.
Service Department...You guys ROCK! Thanks so much Brian!
